A Deep Dive Down Under
with Gordon Little of Little Peacock Imports
Wednesday 3/19 6:30pm
The perception of Australian wine by the American drinker has been through a wild ride over the past 30 years. The continent was the source of impossibly rich, high-alcohol wines that were the darling of wine critics in the 1990s, then a notorious producer of ultra-cheap, industrially-made "critter wines" in the 2000s, and later experienced an almost total export collapse after the global financial crisis of 2008. Luckily, this culling of cheap Chardonnay and teeth-staining blue-chip Shiraz has allowed the "real" wine of Oz to emerge in the States over the past decade. We are thrilled to welcome our friend Gordon Little, Melbourne native and importer of fabulous, small-production wines by family-owned estates in regions like the Barossa Valley, Margaret River, Yarra Valley, Tasmania, and much more. Join us for a wonderful tasting of the best that Australian wine has to offer.
