In Catalan, azimut means "the line between the sun and the sea". This vibrantly fruity, earthy red blend comes from a 5 hectare estate located on the hills outside Barcelona. Certified organic grapes, no added commercial yeasts or enzymes, very little sulfur additions...naturally!
Owned by the Suriol family, Cellers de Can Suriol del Castell is known for making wines and vintage Cava with personality in the organic wine-making tradition. All of their wines are estate bottled.
Working only with their 'collita propia' (own vineyards) and certified organic grapes, no added commercial yeasts or enzymes, very little sulfur additions, and no dosage at bottling of their Cavas. In short, Suriol is the real deal. The Suriol family has lived and made wine in the same masia, the Castell de Grabuac, in Font-Rubí, Penedés, since the 15th century. Their 25ha of vineyards are divided up into 20 different microplots and surround the masia. Located in the Alt Penedés, the higher elevation winegrowing area of the region, the Suriol vineyards are planted at 250-350m altitude on heavy limestone soils. All of Suriol’s work in the vineyard and in the cellar equate to remarkable expressions of their place and their family’s long history of winegrowing.
The Can Suriol vineyards and winery are situated in Alt Penedes, Province of Barcelona, Catalunya. This region is justifiably famous for producing fine wines and cava. The cultivation of the Can Suriol vineyards is done by 100% organic methods as certified by the CCPAE (until 2007 NOP certification).
