Domaine Breyton "Cuvee Charles" Crozes-Hermitage 2020

A remarkable wine from an appellation that can often produce less-than-memorable results. The secret here is mature vines planted on steep granite slopes (almost identical to the more famous Hermitage appellation next door). Farming is biodynamic and winemaking is non-interventionist. A pure expression of Syrah with bold dark red fruit flavors and hints of violet and woodsmoke.
