Carlisle "Rossi Ranch" Sonoma Valley Grenache 2022
Grapes - Grenache and Mourvedre
Origin - California, United States
Style - Modern
Carlisle has long been a winery for the California connoisseur. Owner/Winemaker Mike Officer has consistently produced deep, sumptuous wines that have been beloved as much by his fellow vintners as much as top American wine critics. He has sadly retired, and decided to shut down his operation completely instead of sell it off for profit, a testament to his no-compromise outlook on winemaking. This Grenache-based wine (with 25% Mourvedre in the blend) is typically semi-pale in the glass as is the nature of that grape, but deeply rich in flavor, showing spicy red berry fruit and aromatic garden herbs. Bright acidity and moderate tannins hold together a wine that possesses a surprising 15.1% alc. This wine will age beautifully, but why wait?Â
