Chateau Montus Madiran 2019

Alain Brumont put this backwater region on the map with his 1985 which beat top Bordeaux wines in a blind tasting. The signature grape of Madiran is Tannat, a fiercely tannic variety that Brumont was able to tame and turn elegant with some winemaking techniques now found all over the world. This is a brooding beast showing black fruit flavors and hints of vanilla and coffee beans.
