This week in November, Beaujolais Nouveau will be released to an eager, thirsty populace. As fun as this tradition is, the "new wine of Beaujolais" has done a tremendous disservice to the reputation of a region with a long history of producing some of France's most beloved wines, all made from the grape Gamay. The top wines of Beaujolais are produced in 10 villages, of "Crus" including the famed terroirs of Fleurie and Morgon. Gamay is known for its transparency and ability to transmit terroir and winemaking style very clearly in the glass. For this detailed look at Cru Beaujolais, we are excited to welcome our friend Whitney Schubert of Polaner Selections. Whitney represents some of the most sought-after producers in Beaujolais, and we will pour a wide variety of wines from multiple Crus to set the story straight about the amazing wines of this special place.
