Malbec is Argentina's national grape with good reason. In the warm, dry, high-elevation climes of Mendoza, it is capable of producing deep, rich, full-bodied reds. But its origin as a mediocre, minor blending grape in Bordeaux belies its current superstar status. Across the Andes, in Chile, a similar scenario resurrected the even more obscure French variety, Carmenere. CoolVines wine director Tim Farrell will explain this whole convoluted story and pour excellent examples of these two varieties from multiple terroirs across the globe. Join us!
