Neeley Family Distilling "Sweet Thumped" Single Barrel Rye Whiskey

This beautiful rye single barrel has a lot of the same bready/yeasty notes that Royce has become known for. Typical rye spice is softened by his "thumper" method, unlike standard ryes, his "Sweet Thumped" rye is triple-distilled in copper pot stills. During the third distillation, the vapors pass through a copper thumper loaded up with fresh, unfermented sweet mash. This process softens the spirit and infuses it with the natural sweetness of the rye grain. The flavor that really shines through is a pronounced flavor of homemade apple pie along with apricots, and orange. This barrel spent 86 months in the barrel (7yrs 2 months) and consists of a mash bill of 65% rye, 30% corn, and 5% malted barley.
